About Diphu

Diphu is located in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam. It is a small town tucked away with picturesque locations and picnic spots. It is the headquarters of Karbi Anglong district and one of the three sub divisions of Karbi Anglong. The term Diphu originated from two Dimasa Kachari words ‘Di’ which means white and ‘Phu’ which means water.

Demography of Diphu

As per the 2001 India census, Diphu had a population of 52,062. The literacy rate stands at 75% and the percentage of males to females is 53% to 47%. The population of Diphu constitute mainly of Karbis along with other indigenous communities.
